How the GPA is worked out

Each subject’s percentage lands in a band, and each band carries a grade point. The GPA is the credit-weighted average of those points: every subject’s grade point is multiplied by its credit hours, the results are added together, and the total is divided by the total credit hours.

That weighting only matters when subjects carry different credits. If all of yours carry the same, the GPA is simply the average of the grade points. Credit hours are set by the curriculum rather than by the school, so the calculator lets you set each one instead of assuming a table that may not match your subjects.

Treat this as an estimate

The bands mirror the NEB letter-grading directive and match the scheme NepEdu seeds for every school, but the authoritative figure is the one on your official mark sheet. Some schools also grade lower classes on their own scale, and the regulator amends bands from time to time.

How is GPA calculated in Nepal?: Each subject's percentage maps to a letter grade with a grade point under the NEB letter-grading scale.
